Let’s take a trip back to 2012. Good Music was in full bloom with a star studded roster and cranking out hit after hits. Cruel Summer, release by Good Music was a compilation album. Kanye West, Big Sean, Pusha T, Kid Cudi, Cyhi the Prince, John Legend and Teyana Taylor. The album was crazy and underrated in my opinion. This is the album where I discovered Travis Scott actually. With the release of this piece of musical treasure, Kanye decided to do a film titled Cruel Summer.

The film debut was at Cannes Film Festival. The was a specially made viewing just for this. Ye said it can only be watched like this hence the reason we never got a release. I believe it only showed twice during the festival. Cannes is an invite only venue, so a very small percentage of the population got to experience this epic moment in time.

The film was shot in Doha, Qatar. Supposedly the plot of the movie is a car thief (Kid Cudi) falls in love with a blind Arabian princess. Her father allows marriage under the condition that he help her see. Written and directed by Ye, of course, because we know he will have total control over his projects. Kanye is a visionary genius in my eyes, so I know this film went crazy. How do you spin that plot? Only Ye would know to make that dope as fuck. Up until 10 mins before me writing this I never seen actual play of the film. I only seen the viewing set up. I just happen to search up Cruel Summer and there is an upload from a year ago with footage. It is just a loop but it’s the only insight I know to exist. You get some dialogue in the beginning which seems to depict a heist. Then random visuals and Kid Cudi falling down a desert dune and some more visuals.
Its been 13 years and It’ll be 23842342 more before we NEVER get to see this film lol but I still have hope. Tell me what other movies you feel are just as elusive.
