Lee Cronin’s, The Mummy. First of all, when we see a directors name in the tittle, it says this guy or girl is the shit but I don’t recognize the name so I looked him up naturally. Evil Dead Rise is the only major title to his name. I’m like eeehhhhh ok. I saw a few seconds of the trailer and didn’t know what to make of it honestly. This a remake or something new?
Well, I just saw it and it’s a complete reimagining. Off the rip from the small segment of trailer, I know people are not going to like the look of the mummy. I wasn’t over the moon about it either but, the movie was solid!
Family lives in Egypt and the daughter is kidnapped. 8 years later, no sign of if she’s dead or alive. No leads. Nothing. Phone call comes in says she’s been found and alive. She’s all fucked up. Looks ugly as hell and clearly not herself. Movie takes us though discovery and unraveling, literally!
Investigations shows us what happened to her and why. All the while, this girls is reeking havoc on the family. Plot is similar to the old movies, cured evil entity trying to break free and continue the devastation on humanity. Working with Blum House studios, the craziness was INTENSE! Every creak, creak, scrape, thud, bump was in 8k sound. Very loud and made the atmosphere unsettling. Jumps scares were mid, but that’s just me. The visuals of all the disgusting carnage was top tier to say the least. I was like oohhhh shiiiitttt to some of the events that happened lol.
It becomes a good revenge story at the end but not without the family going through complete hell before so. Still don’t think Lee Cronin is that guy to etch his name on the title lol but he showed up and showed out for this one. I don’t do rating on a scale of 1-10 but as a must see or not, I’d say it’s a must see. 2.5 hours and there were no dead spots in the movie. If you like gore and torment and investigation, this is the one to see.
