As the final season approaches, there is a lot to expect in the final battle between the Hashira, Tanjiro and friends against Muzan. First let’s recap how we got here. Tanjiro is 1 of 5 children whose family live a happy and solitude life. Tanjiro comes home one day to find his family has been slaughtered. His sister, Nezuko, has been turned into a demon and tries to kill him. A Hashira named Giyu Tomioka comes to kill her, but he begs for him not to. In the mists of the struggle, we see a sign of life in Nezuko which convinces Giyu to let he live. This sets off Tanjiro’s quest to find a cure for Nezuko and train to be a part of the Demon Slayer Corp. He makes it through final selection and his quest begins.

On his path he becomes friends with Inosuke and Zenitsu. Both apart of the Corp and both very different in personality. Inosuke is very hot tempered and ALWAYS ready to fight. Zenitsu is SCARED of everything. When it comes time to fight he passes out and in that state, he is the demon slayer he needs to be to survive. Along the way Tanjiro runs into Muzan Kibutsuji, the 1st demon. Tanjiro vows to kill him. He also meets Tomoyo. She is a demon but isn’t like the others. She is well mannered and tempered and a doctor. She agrees to help Tanjiro to find a cure to turn Nezuko back to a human.

Overtime, Tanjiro meets the Hashira. They are the most elite fighters of the Demon Slayer Corp. I must mention too that they all have fighting styles called “breathing techniques.” Giyu Tomioka is the Water Hashira. Sanemi Shinazugawa is the Wind Hashira. Tengen Uzui is the Sound Hashira. Obanai Iguro is the Snake Hashira. Mitsuri Kanroji is the Love Hashira. Muichiro Tokito is the Mist Hashira. Shinobu Kocho is the Insect Hashira. Kyojuro Rengoku is the Flame Hashira and Gyomei Himejima is the Stone Hashira. Tanjiro uses water and fire breathing. Inosuke uses beast breathing and Zenitsu uses thunder breathing.

Muzan’s ultimate goal is immortality. Demons can be killed 2 ways, if they are beheaded or the sunlight. To everyones surprise we find our Nezuko is immune to the sun. This sparks Muzan to actively seek her out. With Nezuko in hiding after her last battle, Muzan goes to the Hashira compound and at the end of season 4, they all finally meet Muzan for the start of the final battle.

Now that we are all caught up, lets unpack the unknowns and what to expect.

Zenitsu’s Transformation: Zenitsu receives and letter in season 4 but we don’t know what it reads. We see him after the fact and he is completely different. Character, demeanor and attitude are all serious. We don’t see the scared and frantic guy anymore. As they fall into the infinity castle we see him sleep as usual. This is normal for him going into battle but we wakes up while falling. Leads me to believe he will evolve and become more powerful in his technique. Also, I think that letter is about his family, some truth that awakened him and/or Muzan has affected them in some way.

Nezuko’s Evolution: Over the seasons we have seen Nezuko evolve as a demon. Her appearance changed by way of tattoos appearing and a horn growing. This says she has not reached her full potential and it comes every time Tanjiro is in trouble. Expect to see her new level to be on match with Muzan if not better.

Tanjiro’s Heritage: Tanjiro kept seeing a distant memory of a Hashira from 300 years ago. It was said that he might be related through blood which is why he is seeing them. BUT, the upper 1 ranked demon looks exactly like him. I wonder if there will be some connection make between it all. I foresee it happening and the upper 1 will turn on Muzan.

Muzan’s Vulnerability: In Muzan’s back story we see him talk about how he feels the sunlight is dangerous to him. He specifically said “feel.” He reaches his finger out to the sun but stops just before. So we never actually see him touch the sun. We don’t see his flesh burn. I feel like that may come into play where he discovers he been immune all along.

Tanjiro’s New Technique: Tanjiro, while doing the Hashira trainig, received the fire marking on his head. Since he began to use water breathing and Hinokami Kagura together in battle, I think he will master it. He will create a whole new technique.

These are the major points that I caught watching the show. I know this final arc will be epic since they are breaking it up into 3 movies. I hope they don’t rush it and make the movies a solid hour 45 to 2 hours long. I’m not upset that this is the final arc because the show is that good to where it does not need to be drug out. This will be some of the best anime to ever be created.
