Yo, Nobodyz Opinion back in the house with another movie breakdown, and this time we’re diving headfirst into the neon glow of “Tron Ares.” Now, full disclosure, it’s been a minute since I saw “Tron Legacy,” so I can’t really speak to direct connections, but honestly, this flick stands on its own two digital feet. It’s a classic tale: tech for good versus tech for profit, played out on a canvas of glowing circuits and pulsating energy.

On one side, you got Julian Dillinger, played by Evan Peters, running Dillinger Systems. Driven by greed and no empathy. Then you got Encom, once ran by Kevin Flynn, now led by Eve Kim, played by the ever-talented Greta Lee. She’s on a mission to honor her late sister’s legacy, striving to create tech that actually helps humanity. It’s that timeless good vs. evil, blue vs. crimson showdown.

Now, in this universe, Flynn’s digital playground, The Grid, is a well-established fact, and both companies have carved out their own territories within it. Dillinger’s crew is all about that crimson red, while Encom reps the cool blue. Pretty standard color scheme for the struggle, right? But the real game-changer here is Ares, played by the always intense Jared Leto. Dillinger created this AI, the most advanced entity ever, with one directive: track Eve and snag the permanence code.

See, both companies have particle lasers to introduce matter from The Grid into the real world, but there’s a catch – it dissolves after 29 minutes. The permanence code? That’s the holy grail, allowing Grid-matter to exist indefinitely. Tick-tock, people, the clock is definitely ticking.

From the jump, you can tell Ares is different. He’s not just a drone; he’s processing, thinking, calculating, observing everything, especially Dillinger. He’s following orders, but you can practically see the wheels turning as he starts to differentiate between Dillinger’s avarice and the genuine drive of the folks he’s chasing. A slow burn of transformation is happening within this AI, a gradual shift where Ares starts to grasp his own dynamic with Dillinger and, well, let’s just say he ain’t feeling it.

The more Ares learns, the more he yearns for permanence for himself, not with any sinister intent, mind you, but just to exist. Meanwhile, Eve stumbles upon the elusive code in an old, dusty Flynn server from the 80s. Dillinger, of course, catches wind of it and, in a moment of pure villainy, zaps her into The Grid. Ares’s mission now? Extract the code and eliminate Eve.

But here’s where it gets good! Ares ain’t having that. He defies a direct order, because homeboy is starting to think for himself! He strikes a deal with Eve: the code for her life. Handshake made, and the race is on. Athena, played by the fierce Jodie Turner-Smith, who was Ares’s number one, is now the Master Controller, and her directive is clear: terminate Ares, terminate Eve, get the code.

And then, y’all, they unleash The Tron World! The real world gets flooded with Grid tech, and it’s a wild, destructive free-for-all. Casualties? Collateral damage? Nah, that’s just part of the mission. Eve gets Ares into that old server to hunt for the code, while she’s doing her best to survive in The Grid. She’s terrible at it, but she manages to stay alive! Ares, who’s not “real” in the traditional sense, has a final, epic showdown with Athena, and comes out on top.

Dillinger, the snake he is, tries to escape justice by zapping himself into The Grid. Saw that coming a mile away, but still, a solid villain move. In the end, Encom takes control of the permanence code and uses it for good, developing tech to help struggling nations with agriculture, medicine, you name it. And Ares? He finally gets his wish, venturing out to explore the world and live his own life.

The visuals in this movie are absolutely insane, as always with “Tron.” The Grid world is dynamic, vibrant, and just pure eye candy. Seriously, the visuals alone are worth the price of admission. Big screen vibes, 100%. And yes, there’s a little easter egg at the end, hinting at a potential sequel. So, stay tuned, folks!
