Kid Cudi’s latest project, his tenth studio album titled “Free,” is more than just another recordโit’s a culmination album. It feels like a moment of arrival, a place he’s reached after a long journey.
We all know a lot of his early work dealt with some deep, dark stuff. He was exploring those struggles and sharing them with us. But listening to “Free,” itโs clear heโs finally in the best place he can beโa place he maybe never even thought he could reach. This album marks that shift.
Track-by-Track Impressions
The album clocks in at 13 tracks, and honestly, itโs almost flawless to me. There’s only one track, “Ashes,” that I’d probably skip on a full listen.
But the rest of the album is just fire all the way through, especially for true Cudi fans. The most notable tracks, the ones that really stand out, include:
- “Mr. Miracle”
- “Neverland”
- “Opiate”
- “Deep Diving Truman Show”
- “Grave Past Life”
- “Saltwater”
The overall feel is phenomenal, and it really solidifies his status and growth as an artist.
Digging Deeper
If you want to know more about the album and where he’s coming from, I highly recommend checking out his interview with Zane Lowe. Zane’s phenomenal work gives us everything we need to know about the albumโthe ins and outsโand really delves into where Kid Cudi is at in life right now.
Itโs a powerful listen, and a great addition to his discography.
