This movie I didn’t really intend to watch all the way through. I had low expectations but seeing Daniel Radcliffe is why I put it on. Felt like maybe it could be a good one like Swiss army man was. And my
judgment wasn’t wrong. This quiet release is based on a true story.

Daniel plays a man names Yossi Ghinsberg who is backpacking
across Europe and Asia. His purpose was to not follow the conventional way of life and seek new and exciting experiences. Along the way he meets a man name Marcus, played by Joel Jackson and a man names Kevin, played by Alex Russell. Marcus knew Kevin already and Yossi knew Kevin as well, but not personally. Kevin was a well known photographer. They spend a few weeks living and traveling together before Yossi encounters a lone wolf named Karl, played by Thomas Kretschmann. This is my 1 st time seeing Thomas in a movie since Wanted. Karl stops Yossi in a market and solicits a jungle adventure to him. Yossi goes back to tell Marcus and Kevin and convince them to do it. Very reluctantly, they agree to go.

The plan is to hike through the jungle and stop at some villages along the way. Ultimately see some tribes in undocumented jungle. Wit every step the trio is cautious of Karl until they reach the 1 st village, just as he said. They have a good time with the locals, laugh, eat and make memories. They press on and go through the rigors, lack of food, feet problems, killing animals to survive, torrential down pours. They
get to a point where Marcus feet is so bad they decide to make a raft to continue down river. This plan didn’t last long. Kevin and Karl fight on the raft so they pull off to an embankment. With kevin and karl
at one another’s necks, the group has to decide what they want to do. Kevin wants to continue down river and Karl will hike on foot till the next village of La Paz.

A three day hike. Karl and Marcus decide to hike and Kevin and Yossi decide to ride the waves. was going good for Kevin and Yossi. Managed to navigate the waters with no issues. Before they left, Karl gave them explicit instructions to get off the river before the canyon. If they don’t, they will die. After a couple of hours, they got to relaxed and didn’t notice the canyon until it was too late. The waters had picked up and the embankment was going by fast. They smash into a rock and get stuck. Kevin makes a business decision to swim to the embankment and them throw Yossi a line and pull him over. Surprisingly kevin does make it but with Yossi on the raft alone, the water got the best of it and swept Yossi down river. Yossi is banged up but survives and managed to make it to the side and back into the jungle. Yossi, once he gets his self together, he starts to look for Kevin.

I hate to do it, but I will do it – – – – – – – – – GO WATCH THE SHIT!

The rest of the movie follows Yossi and the HELL he goes through to be rescued. HE GOES THROUGH IT! This is based on a true story and I read up on the real Yossi. It was a little worse in real life, so this movie
you can take at face value. Just to entice the watch, I will say that the movie was made in remembrance to Marcus. Watch it to see the how why what when. I definitely didn’t expect that outcome.

I was a nice little gem that I gave 50% of my attention and by the river scene I was locked in. A nice change of pace from what I was feeding my ocular organs. Let me know what you think!
