Shout out to the Sandman first a foremost. I feel like if you didn’t catch Happy Gilmore in 1996 then part 2 wouldn’t hit as much. This is for my folk who was around back in ’96.

This movie showed me how much people really bang with Adam Sandler. He had everyone in this movie. Past, present and future golf greats, podcasts, his usual suspects and his family. Star of the movie – the wardrobe!

Alright, let me get into it.

Happy Gilmore 2 timeline is 10 years after the last movie. IRL its 29 years. Talk about a late ass sequel but of course Adam can make it work. The build up to ‘now’ times in the movie was perfect. Flashes of the 1st movie and some CGI to show the progression over time. Well done, not too long and said what was needed to be said. The story was perfect for Adam to literally be HIMSELF in the movie including his wardrobe. You can’t pay me to believe he didn’t just go in his closet and throw shit on for the scenes. He casts his real wife and his daughters in the movie as well. All which has been done before. Literal family affair.

Happy is washed up and lost his wife, all his money, is a raging alcoholic and is taking care of his daughter. He has 4 WILD ass boys who are older and doing their own thing. They are all of Happy’s anger in human form but funny as hell. He has a neighbor who convinces him he needs to get back in the circuit to make the money to send his daughter to dance school in Paris. Going to run him 300k.

He is straight ass on the course. Takes a while and some unorthodox training but he gets back to the Happy everyone remembered. Earlier he is propositioned by a young guy who is starting up a new golf league called Maxi. This is before he got his swing back so he says no. Fast forward, he is in a tournament and just needs to place top 30 to get the money for his daughter. Maxi comes in the picture with intentions to change golf forever and cancel the traditional way. So the tournament adds, top 5 will play against Maxi’s top 5 to show who’s better.

The tournament starts decent and gets better for Happy. He is in 1st but the final day is on mothers day and he isn’t over the guilt of killing his wife. He drinks and fucks it all up and places 6th. Good for the prize money which is 400k but he cause so much damage he owed 430k. The guy who won the tournament switched over to play for Maxi which pushed Happy to 5th and make the cut. So, it’s on now.

Maxi’s course is crazy to say the least. It has obstacles, weather changes, long ass drives etc. The traditional golfers are at a disadvantage because the course is tailored to the Maxi golfers. They had a surgery which allows them to hit the ball 500yrds. It’s a struggle to say the least. In true Happy Gilmore fashion there are fights and other wild shit that goes down during. Before the last put Happy makes a bet with the Maxi owner and wins.

Why Adam is the GOAT. He has SOOOO many people that stepped up for this movie. And I’m sure it’s all on GP. I already spoke on his family. Golfers – John Daly, Rory McIlroy, Scottie Scheffler to name a few with a slew of other pros and legends. Kid Cudi, Haley Joel Osment, Emimen, Christopher McDonald reprised his role as Shooter McGavin, Ben Stiller reprised his role as Hal L., Travis Kelce, Reggie Bush, Bad Bunny, Nick Swardson, Kevin Nealson reprised his role as Gary Potter, Benny Safdie, Kym Whitley, Eric Andre and Kid Cudi. The usual suspects were Steve Buscemi, Blake Clark and Jonathan Loughran. Appeared on Bad Friends and It is What it is podcasts.

For me this was a good movie just because but even better because Sandler just can’t miss when he does what he does, be himself. If y’all not familiar with Sandler 30 years ago, run the 1st movie back. Hit part 2 right after to get the full experience and see the cohesion. Adam is a sleeper in the game and I’m here for all his work.
