I don’t usually do quick blurbs on things I watch. Just internalize it and speak about it with my friends. This one hit different. This is a Netflix documentary that I just put on for background noise. Most of the beginning I wasn’t to invest in but as the action built up, I locked in.

Disaster films and documentaries are mostly the same. Intro, build up, disaster, survival, aftermath. What separates them all is the portrayal of it all. The optics. The draw-in. I like documentaries in conjunction with movies because it gives you that inside look. Really places you in the mix.

This one rocked harder than I was ready for. The optics along with the recounting of the incident has got to be one of the most perfect blend of story telling created. These individuals where still shaken by the even years later, accompanied with perfect timing footage inserted while recounting the moment, visuals to highlight the intensity but not so over done.

Usually military stuff can get to me more than anything but I felt real emotion for these folks and was terrified from my couch just imagining being in their position.

Natural disasters are equally terrible but when it hits in a manner of unexpectedness and with such violence is the absolute worse. They went through hell for what probably felt like hours and very lucky to be alive. Would hate to be in an event so traumatic that it changes my whole outlook on life.

Words wouldn’t even being to do it justice. I highly encourage y’all to check it out. Honestly can just skip to when the little boy and his mom fly to the state with plans to meet the local weatherman. Start from there and just give uninterrupted attention. Let me know if it hit the same.
