I want to say that this specific lane of film has been the most consistent in the horror genre. Comparable to all the movies in the series as well as Rosemary’s baby and the exorcists. After watching this latest one, it doesn’t miss.
The first Omen is a prequal to all the movies showing how it all began. Of course its set in Rome and dealing with a church that has a skewed idea of right and wrong.

The movies follows a young lady who has traveled from America to Rome to pledge herself to God and serve righteously with this church. She meets a young girl on her first day and realizes there is something different about her, something, off. She gets introduced to everyone in the church and tried to find her role amongst the children, as she is not a teacher nor does she speak the language.

After a meeting with a gentleman telling her she needs to hear the information he has, she begins to notice incidences happening with the other women and in general. These happenings go from bad to worse. She discovers that what the man had said was true and couldn’t imagine the severity of it until its too late. She is in the center of it all in which seems like a blink of an eye.

What makes this such a strong movies is the LACK of jump scares. Instead all the wild crazy demented disturbing occurrences that happen are depicted in such a honest way, like if this is reality, this is the realest way it would. That make sense lol? It also pushed the boundaries on what her are use to seeing in horror. I would say most of the recent movies in the last decade would be classified as softcore. The First Omen pushes it to hardcore and I love it! Imagery that will make you uneasy.
