Latto Might Really Be Big Mama

It’s been 2 years since Latto dropped her last project. This time around she is flexin her muscles and giving the ladies multiple anthems and IG captions. Her last project I thought was carried by a few “Pop” type records like “Big Energy” (can’t forget the remix with Mariah too) and “Sunshine” with Lil Wayne and Childish Gambino. I’m not going to say it came and went but I don’t think the songs were a good representation of who Latto is as an artist. Sugar Honey Iced Tea is the project Latto fans been waiting for.
She starts off with “Georgia Peach” with a distorted voice that’s sings “Is this what you wanted?/ Is this what you need?/ Fuck your reputation/ It don’t mean shit to me”. She gets into her melodic rap bag and its fire. The perfect song to lead into every women’s IG caption and song for their birthday, “Big Mama”. On this track she starts off melodic but the beat changes and gives everybody whole new bop to dance to. One thing is for sure the vibe throughout this album is ATL to the core and it works.
“Blick Sum” sounds good but you can tell its missing the Cart feature. “Brokey” and “H&M” she gets into her braggadocius bag and to be honest she’s good at it. Stand out feature on the album is Teezo Touchdown on “Prized Possession”. I’m not even the biggest fan but she lets him go off and he shows out. She ends the Album with “S/O to Me”. Honestly the intro and outro I got vibes from from one of our greats in a good way. Subtle shades of Drake are sprinkled throughout the project to me. Sidebar, the shots at Ice Spice and Nicki weren’t bad either. She does a good job of showing multiple flows and styles on this project. This is by far her best project to date and is showing she is here to stay.
